EL CONCEJO DE LA FIFA NOMBRA A ESTADOS UNIDOS ANFITRION DE LA NUEVA COPA MUNDIAL DE CLUBES DE LA FIFA

El Consejo de la FIFA ha designado por unanimidad a Estados Unidos como anfitrión de la nueva y ampliada Copa Mundial de Clubes de la FIFA de 32 equipos que se llevará a cabo en 2025, en su reunión celebrada por videoconferencia desde la sede de la FIFA. El proceso de selección del anfitrión tuvo en cuenta los requisitos de infraestructura y servicio, así como objetivos estratégicos más amplios para el torneo. La decisión se tomó en base a la posición de Estados Unidos como líder comprobado en la organización de eventos mundiales y porque permitiría a la FIFA maximizar las sinergias con la entrega de la Copa Mundial de la FIFA 2026, en beneficio de ambos torneos y el desarrollo del fútbol en la región de América del Norte. Como próximo paso, la FIFA colaborará con las partes interesadas relevantes para finalizar las fechas, las sedes y el calendario de partidos de este nuevo torneo.

“La Copa Mundial de Clubes de la FIFA 2025 será la cúspide del fútbol de clubes masculino profesional de élite, y con la infraestructura requerida junto con un gran interés local, Estados Unidos es el anfitrión ideal para dar inicio a este nuevo torneo mundial”, dijo el presidente de la FIFA, Gianni Infantino. “Con algunos de los mejores clubes del mundo ya clasificados, los fanáticos de todos los continentes traerán su pasión y energía a los Estados Unidos dentro de dos años para este importante hito en nuestra misión de hacer que el fútbol sea verdaderamente global”. FIFA COUNCIL APPOINTS UNITED STATES AS HOST OF NEW AND EXPANDED FIFA CLUB WORLD CUP

The FIFA Council has unanimously appointed the United States as the host of the new and expanded 32-team FIFA Club World Cup that is due to take place in 2025, at its meeting held by videoconference from the Home of FIFA. The host selection process took into consideration the infrastructure and service requirements, as well as broader strategic objectives for the tournament. The decision was reached based on the United States’ position as a proven leader in staging global events and because it would allow FIFA to maximise synergies with the delivery of the FIFA World Cup 2026, to the benefit of both tournaments and the development of football in the North American region. As a next step, FIFA will engage with the relevant stakeholders to finalise the dates, venues and match schedule of this new tournament.

“The FIFA Club World Cup 2025 will be the pinnacle of elite professional men’s club football, and with the required infrastructure in place together with a massive local interest, the United States is the ideal host to kick off this new, global tournament,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino. “With some of the world’s top clubs already qualified, fans from every continent will be bringing their passion and energy to the United States in two years’ time for this significant milestone in our mission to make football truly global.” The slot allocation per confederation and the key principles of access were already confirmed by the FIFA Council earlier this year.
